The selection and use of laminated glass and insulating glass require more attention to detail. So as not to cause unnecessary trouble. So what is the difference between laminated glass and insulating glass?
1. The structure is different. Laminated glass is made from more than two sheets of glass. There is one or more layers of organic polymer intermediate film sandwiched in the middle. After a special high-temperature lamination process, the glass and the interlayer film are permanently bonded as a composite glass product. Although insulating glass is also made of various ordinary glass, it is assembled. The center is a high-performance acoustic glass made of two or three panes of glass and a high-strength, air-tight composite adhesive. The glass sheets are bonded with an aluminum alloy frame containing a desiccant, which can form a dry air layer and bring about heat insulation and sound insulation effects.
2. Performance is different. Because of laminated glass stronger shock resistance. The sound insulation effect will be better. The sound insulation performance of laminated glass is mainly composed of the actual thickness of the glass, the thickness of the interlayer film and the flexible vibration damping performance of the interlayer film. When there is a strong wind outside, there is less vibration and less noise from the glass itself. And the insulating glass will resonate when there is strong wind outside. Because the sound insulation performance of double-layer insulating glass is mainly composed of the actual thickness of the two layers of glass and the distance between the two sheets of glass. There is a standing wave resonance in the structure of the insulating glass, which causes the sound wave of a certain frequency band to overlap with the insulating glass, that is, the sound wave of a certain frequency band can easily penetrate the insulating glass. So the sound insulation is not very good. The low-frequency sound insulation performance of insulating glass in traffic is the same, so that low-frequency noise can easily penetrate the glass and enter the room, so it is not suitable for use on main roads.
3. The usage occasions are different. If you live on a high floor, insulating glass is more suitable, which can play a role in heat insulation. But if you live on the lower floors, insulating glass is not suitable. Choose laminated glass for better firmness.
