Types of Laminated Glass
Double glazed glass is composed of two or three layers of glass and one or two layers of air chambers. Generally, laminated glass is preferred for indoor installation, while colored coated glass, low-e glass, colored glass, or silk screen glass can be selected for outdoor glass according to the requirements of architectural design.
Toughened laminated glass is also known as tempered laminated glass. It is a type of laminated glass made by compounding two or more layers of ordinary float glass after tempering treatment. The middle layer is mostly pvb film , which is a type of safety glass that is bonded together with 2 or more layers of glass through a special process of heating and high pressure.
Laminated glass is a composite glass product made by sandwiching two or more pieces of float glass with a strong pvb film in between, pressing and discharging the air in the middle through a hot press, and then placing it in a high-pressure steam kettle to dissolve the residual small amount of air into the film under high temperature and pressure.
Triple laminated glass is composed of three layers of glass and two layers of pvb film. Pvb has excellent flexibility, toughness, and resistance to climate change. It does not produce any harmful substances during use and can absorb over 90% of UV radiation.
Low-e glass is low emissivity glass and is a commonly used coated glass in home decoration. The low-e film layer is coated with a silver layer, which can reflect over 98% of far-infrared thermal radiation, just like a mirror reflecting light, directly reflecting heat. Can reduce the emissivity e of glass from 0.84 (ordinary glass) to below 0.15. Compared with ordinary single piece transparent glass, low-e glass can reduce ultraviolet radiation by 25%.
